Step into a world of charm at this historic site, with cascading stairwells, tree-filled skylights, and classic arch windows. The layout seamlessly merges the indoors with the outdoors, centered around the magnificent Guayabo Japonés tree. This lush green canopy reaches from the ground floor to the bedroom balconies on the second floor.
Wherever we go, we source the best in local talent. Through expanding our knowledge of Mexican design, architecture, and culture, we’ve partnered with local artists, brands, and artisans to help us turn this vision into a reality that’s bigger, bolder, and more integrated into the Mexican landscape.
90% of all the furniture, art, and accessories have been handcrafted by contemporary Mexican artists, brands, and suppliers. We’re proud and excited to bring this vision to life with their cultural expertise.
For the stairs, bathroom, and outdoor areas, we’ve partnered with Patricia from Tata Mosaicos. Patricia creates handmade bricks from compacted earth sourced from different regions throughout Mexico. This unique structure means they need 50% less cement, using the sun and shade to dry naturally and secure the structure. An environmentally-friendly solution sourced locally.
Studio David Pomp creates impressive lighting structures that are rooted in the materials and craftsmanship of his home country. Together, we have carefully selected lighting pieces for Casa Mezcal, lovingly matched and modified to meet the rest of the interior.
As a lush, green city, there is plenty of inspiration around Mexico city for this project’s landscape design. Working with Thalia from Aldaba Jardines, we focused on a seamless flow from the indoor to the outdoor and back again to create a vibrant oasis in the city.
This project was one of the most inspiring and long journeys to create. We literally moved to Mexico and explored it’s cultural heritage and met so many talented designers and artists on a weekly basis.
Casa Mezcal became a dream residence in the heart of Condesa in Mexico City with a heartwarming soul, sharing a variety of stories in Mexican design, art, furniture and craftsmanship.
